Programs

Mentorship

Students are paired with professionals based on common interests. Mentor age ranges from 22-35, representing a populace that understands the needs of youth entering an ever-evolving workplace. Mentor experiences vary, from research fellows to graduate students to early-to-mid career working health science professionals​. Fields of previous mentors have included:

- Neuroscience

- Behavioral Health

- Dental

- Medicine

- Genetic Counseling

Mentors meet with students regularly to provide professional and academic support. Mentors follow a PATHS-specific curriculum.

Development Workshops

Helps students build the important skills they need to do well college and in the workplace. We cultivate a hyrbid-ready workplace while focusing on providing mentees with the skills and resources necessary for a future career in the health sciences.

Topics have included:

- College Application Preparedness

- Academic Success

- Mental Wellbeing

- Alternative Health Science Careers

- Internship Finding

- Network Building as a Teenager

Career Semianrs

Working professionals present to students about their careers, sharing the day to day life and steps necessary to reach their career. Emphasis on non-typical health-related careers.

Notable speakers have included:

- Nobel Prize Winner Dr. Jennifer Doudna

- Clinical Athletic Trainer Monicchiarulo

- Child Psychiatrist Meghan Schott

- Travel Nurse Katie Andrusaitis

Action Potential Initiative

Students optionally develop a scientific research question and carry out a small research project. They are led through the scientific method and guided through the project by their mentor. Students must apply to participate in this part of the program.
